Jagannath Puri Rath Yatra Story

15 days before the Rath Yatra starts the doors of Jagannath temple are closed. It's believed that Lord Jagannath, Brother Balram, and Sister Subhadra are made to take baths with 108 pots of water due to which they fall sick. After which they go for rest where they are taken care of like a kid. After 15 days when Lord Jagannath gets well the temple is opened for darshan and the next day the Rath Yatra starts where the Rath is taken to Gundicha Temple which is their Maternal Aunt's Home. Lord Jagannath, Balram, and Subhadra spend 7 days in this temple while the Jagannath temple remains closed, and on the 7th day, Lord Jagannath is brought out and returns the Rath Yatra to the Jagannath Temple.
