History of Maa Baglamukhi Temple, Kangra 

Baglamukhi word comes from two different Sanskrit words ‘Bagla’ and ‘Mukh’ which stands for Bride and Face. In conclusion, it states that the deity has a captivating and attractive face that fights against all evil. Maa Baglamukhi manifestation of Adi Shakti roots in the old folklore of Indian tradition. There are variations of folklore throughout the country. 

According to mythology, there was a demon Madanasura who was causing storms with the Vak Siddhi, and it was required to be killed. Maa Baglamukhi was pleased by men and other celestial deities to defeat evil on Earth. Being approached by several Gods, Lord Vishnu pleaded for Mahashakti's presence, and being impressed by Lord Vishnu, she appeared from the lake in Maa Baglamukhi avatar. 

Goddess Maa Baglamukhi is adorned with yellow ornaments, garments, and flowers. Baglamukhi Temple in Kangra is also brightly painted in yellow hue because it's considered Goddess Maa Baglamukhi's favorite color. Even the devotees wear yellow clothing and sweets are also baked in yellow like besan ladoo. 

The Maa Baglamukhi Temple at Kangra has a deity of Goddess Baglamukhi with a dark face, shimmery golden eyes, nose ring, crown, and a weapon beside her either mace or club to deal with the evils and indicate her looking over evils with a club in either of her hand. 

It is stated by a legend that in honor of Lord Shiva Goddess Sati herself in his father Yagya. Lord Shiva took her body on his shoulder and did Tandava. To stop him from destroying the world Lord Vishnu took her body and divided it into 51 parts through his Chakra and the left breast fell in this spot making it Shakti Peetha.
