About the Appearance of Mamleshwar Jyotirlinga

Mamleshwar Jyotirlinga appeared as it goes with the history, that the Vindya range was practicing hard penance to be superior to other mountains. Seeing the Penance of the Vindhya range, Gods and Rishis prayed to the Lord Shiva to remain stable in the Vindhya range, and as a result, the Shiva's linga form appeared here, located in Omkarlinga. The Jyoti idolize Parthiban Murthy, called Parmeshwar or Amaleshwar Jyotirlinga, and are now called Mamleshwar Jyotirlinga.

There is also a story behind the Mamleshwar Temple's appearance: sometimes the Narmada river would overflow during rains, and it was inaccessible to worship the Shivling at the Omkareshwar temple. Therefore, Mamleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple was built to perform Puja at this temple while Omkareshwar was inaccessible.

Narmada River Flows between Omkareshwar and Mamleshwar Jyotirlinga. If Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga is the soul of Lord Shiva, then Mamleshwar is the body of Lord Shiva, which gives full recognition of the Jyotirlinga.

Mamleshwar Temple has beautiful architecture, located on the south bank of the Narmada River, and is a five-story building with a pagoda on each floor. Lord Shiva is worshipped in the form of Partheshwar Linga in the Mamleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple.
