Andhra Ashram Varanasi History
The foundation stone of Andhra Ashram Varanasi was laid on 12-11-1959 by V.V. Giri, the Governor of U.P. On April 1, 1960, P.P. Ramabhadrendra Saraswati Swamy became prominent among the six members of the Trust Board.Â
He appointed clerks and communicated with laborers and masons to build the ashram. The first floor and part of the second floor of the Andhra Ashram Varanasi were built during this time.Â
Subsequently, he built a temple with idols of Sri Ram, Sita, Lakshman, Hanuman, and Sri Kodandaramaswamy. P.P. Ramabhadrendra Saraswati Swamy parted ways from the ashram in 1966 because he found it difficult to manage it with the clerks.
Sri Ramachandra Murthy became the manager and did his job efficiently by providing facilities to the pilgrims. He attained Shiva Sayujyam in 1983 at the ashram he founded in Kashi.
His statue is installed in a cottage near Shiva Temple to honor his service in Andhra Ashram Varanasi. Sri Sitarama Kalyana Mahotsavam, Rama Navami, and Lord Ganapathi Navarathri festivals have been celebrated here since 1987.
