Hasanamba Temple is situated in the Haasan district of Karnataka. Temple is dedicated to Hasanamba Goddess. There are total three premises in the temples which are dedicated to Darbar Ganapati, Hasanamba Goddess and Siddeshwara. There is another shrine dedicated to Kallapa. This temple is open only once a year for 12 days during Diwali Festival. This temple known for various mysteries. As the diya which is lit during the last day will stay lit till next year. The fruits and rice which were offered to the goddess will last fresh till next year.
There is also a stone in the temple which is increasing its size.
Four thieves who tried to steal the Devi's idol are turned into stones due to goddess's anger. These stones can be seen in Kallapa shrine.
Architecture of the Temple is exceptionally well. It is designed by Hoysala dynasty in their traditional design in Jainism style. The newly constructed Gopuram shows the Dravidian style architecture.
History of Hasanamba Temple
It is believed that the during Hoysala Dynasty in 12th century an idol was found with a face having smile. Hasana Mukhi or smiling face was transformed into Hassan.
