The innermost enclosure has a low and narrow sanctum in which only a few people can enter. You will spot the Shivalinga partially submerged in water, rising from an underground spring in the sanctum. There are nine holes in the sanctum sanctorum through which you can spot the Shivalinga.
Festivals celebrated here are Panguni Brahmmotsavam, Aadi Fridays, and Aadi Pooram. It has a separate Kosala and a bathing pool for an elephant.

Jambukeshwar Temple, Tamil Nadu History
Kochengat Cholan, one of the Early Cholas built Jambukeshwar Temple, Tamil Nadu. The four main Nayanars sang songs praising the deities of the temple here. It is one of the 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams. Inscriptions from the Chola period are found in this temple.
A painting in the Jambukeshwar Temple, Tamil Nadu was found narrating the mythological story of Lord Shiva and Parvathi. It highlights the story that Parvathy was caught in wrath for mocking Lord Shiva. She was sent down to earth for punishment as Akilandeshwari.
