Reddamma Konda Temple: History, Timings, Pooja

Reddamma Temple is dedicated to Goddess Reddamma, a boon giving goddess to childless couples. This Temple is situated in Cherlopalli Village in Gurramkonda, Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh. The couples who are blessed with child after worshipping the goddess have to prefix the child's name with goddess name. 

Reddamma Temple History

300 years earlier there is couple Rami Reddy and Nagamma who lived in the village of Ellam Palli. They did farming for their livelihood. They had 2 sons and 1 daughter. Their daughter was named Reddamma. One day Reddamma was guarding the field when Nawab of that region saw this beautiful girl and ordered his soldier to present that girl before him. Reddamma saw the soldiers were approaching her, frightened by this Reddamma prayed Lord Shiva and Parvathi for help. In reponse to this a bright light came and hill got cracked into two which absorbs the soldiers and Reddamma. One soldier saw the entire incident and told to Nawab, afterthat they both escaped from that place. 

Her parents were worried about Reddamma that she did not returned from the field. After two days, Reddamma appeared in the dreams of her mother Nagamma and told her where she was. Next morning, entire village reached the hill and saw the goddess who has manifested near to the hill. 

Reddamma Temple Puja Proccess For Couples

1. First visit the Thotli Vari Palli village, there is people from Reddamma family who are giving ayurvedic water from 200 years. 

2. Woman needs to visit this village at 6:30 am in the morning and drink this water for 3 Sundays continuously. After drinking that water she needs to visit the Reddamma konda Temple. 

3. There she has to take bath in Amma Vaari Koneru. 

4. After that with wet clothes she has to take coconut and one piece of new cloth (Both are available at the temple) and take them in her hand. 

5. There is one big Banyan tree in front of the temple where she has to to Shastang Namaskaram to Amma ans pray for child. 

6. There is a belief that while doing this woman might get slept or get dream about. Then it is confirmed that they will get child. 

7. After that woman needs to take small stone and tie that in the new clothe and tie them to the banyan tree. 

8. Then woman has to enter the temple and offer the coconut and other samagiri to the priest and pray the goddess. 

9. Woman has to do this all steps for 3 Sundays continuously.
