Malakonda Temple: Timings, History, Pooja Cost, Ticket Price

Located 35 km from Kandukur Bus Station, Malakonda Temple is popular in Andhra Pradesh. It is also called Sri Malyadri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple. The main deity here is Lord Narashima.

Malay means hills and adri means flowers. Rocks and flowers are seen on the way through the temple, giving it the name Malyadri. You should climb 970 steps to reach the temple. River Krishna flows through the North of this temple, and River Penna through the South.

In Malakonda temple, you will find the swami in the cave naturally formed at the top of the hill. The temple is open to visitors only on Saturdays.

Malakonda Temple History

There is a mythological story that Lord Vishnu enquired about the Goddess Lakshmi’s wishes. She replied that the devotees need to spend a lot of money to travel to the existing Divya Kshetras.

She requested the Lord to manifest in a place where devotees can access. Fulfilling her wish, the Lord ordered Vanamala and established an abode to stay on earth. The Vanamala later transformed to Malakonda for the Lord’s stay per his instructions.
