Thirumanancheri Temple in Tamil Nadu is a 1000 years old temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. It is famous for blessing people with happy marriages. Devotees visit to pray for a good life partner and a peaceful marriage. Therefore it is known as Kalyansundereshwarar Temple.
The Temple’s Story
Goddess Parvati prayed here to marry Lord Shiva. To test her, Shiva appeared in disguise and set challenges. Seeing her devotion, he agreed to marry her. Another legend says Lord Vishnu helped Shiva accept Parvati after a sage’s curse. Their divine wedding happened here.
Thirumanancheri Temple History
The temple's name comes from “Thirumanam” (marriage) and “Cheri” (village). Built centuries ago, it was renovated by the Chola kings in Dravidian style.
